Tesla tells all who care to listen that the future is now. This is more evident than ever with the introduction of their new two-door convertible, the Tesla Model S. It was actually made by an Italian design house specializing in luxury vehicles. This is pretty convenient given that the future is brimming with possibilities.

The Tesla Roadster happened to be a convertible. It also happened to be a failure. The electric car of the future needs to be modern. But this looked like one of those Hot Wheels collectibles.

Since then, there has been a slew of third-party companies offering conversions of Model S and Model 3s into convertible versions Tesla could never even hope of achieving.

One of the best entries was from Newport Convertible Engineering when they made their own convertible out of a Tesla Model 3 convertible.

The Tesla Model S is a two-door convertible contender unlike any other

In order to achieve the desired look, Ares had to undergo major changes for the vehicle. This included such important shifts like cutting away with the roof and removing the rear doors. This also included allowing the B-pillars for newer and longer front doors. Centro Stile themselves made the rear bonnet to allow space to integrate the roof when properly stowed.

But in the interest of not weakening the stronghold of the Model S chassis, Ares’ engineers had no choice but to retain structural integrity. This is done by “reinforcing the chassis with additional [strength] to the side members, beneath the cockpit and rear seating area.”

Honestly, the way they redesigned an automobile that many seem to consider as perfect is pretty impressive. That’s like resculpting God in your image almost.
