Though spring may have just started, summer heat is just around the corner for Arizonans. And one of the best ways to enjoy the summer sun is to take your boat out on a lovely lake. But what are Arizona’s most serene and gorgeous boating destinations? We have a few ideas in mind for you:
Take a trip down to the south end of the state and check out Patagonia Lake. A man-made reservoir that became a state park in the 70s, Patagonia Lake attracts lots of water sports lovers during the summer. Its beautiful scenery and excellent campground surround one of Arizona’s more lovely lake experiences. And it has two boat ramps, helping to prevent bottlenecks of boaters trying to get out and enjoy the waters.
Woods Canyon Lake
Want something a little higher up? Woods Canyon Lake sits at 7,500 feet above sea level and provides a lovely high-altitude alternative to the lower-set Southwest Arizona. Outdoorsy folks will love the multitude of trails that run through the trees that line the lakeshore. Of course, the lake itself is no slouch. The view frequently includes deer and elk, as well as the large population of rainbow trout the lake houses.
Eastern Arizona’s Lake Havasu winds up on any list of Arizona boating destinations, and with good reason. Its 400-mile perimeter provides many opportunities to lie in the sand and soak up the sun. Its water reaches the mid-80s during the summer months and is firmly in pleasant and warm territory outside of those peak months. Fortunately for boaters, the lake lacks a speed limit. What more could you want for your summer getaway?
